It is among Sri Lanka's oldest and largest parks. One of the park's distinctive features is the Villus lifestyle. In the area, there may be more than 60 lakes and drinking holes. There are 31 distinct animal species in this popular ecotourism location including one of Wilpattu National Park's largest populations of leopards.
